California Proposition 65 Information
California Proposition 65, also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a state law designed to protect California's drinking water sources from contamination by chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. It mandates that businesses, including suppliers and distributors like Industrial Plastic Supply, Inc., provide clear and reasonable warnings to Californians about potential exposures to such listed chemicals in their products. This regulation specifically impacts the plastics industry by requiring disclosure of chemicals found in various plastic materials, such as certain phthalates or carbon black, that are identified as hazardous under Prop 65.
Proposition 65
Proposition 65 is also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. Prop 65 protects the state’s drinking water sources from being contaminated with chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and requires businesses to inform Californians about exposures to such chemicals.
According to Proposition 65, suppliers and distributors of a product and retail sellers need to provide a clear and reasonable warning for all product that may expose the consumer to any of the listed substances.
